Eid-el-Kabir: Don’t Give Up Hope, APC Chieftain Admonishes Nigerians
By Steve Oni, Ilorin
A stalwart of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Saliu Mustapha, has implored Nigerians not to lose hope in the face of multidimensional challenges confronting the country and the world at large.
He also emphasised the need for them to constitute themselves into vanguards of peace, tolerance, while remaining charitable to one another.
Mustapha, in his message to Muslim community on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, admonished them to exhibit lifestyles reflective of the purpose of the Islamic festivity, which revolves around brotherhood, piety, sacrifice and resilience.
He tasked the rich among Muslims to deploy their wealth in the propagation of Islam and to ameliorate the sufferings of the less privileged among them, which according to him was heightened by COVID-19 induced lockdown.
The APC chieftain, who is the founder of a Non Governmental Organisation, Saliu Mustapha Foundation, urged Nigerians to adhere strictly to the safety protocols rolled out to flatten the curve of the deadly virus.
“It is my prayer that this Eid-el-Adha (Eid-el-Kabir) will bring serenity to our hearts, well-being to our country and peace to our world. We thank the Almighty Allah for sparing our lives, especially Muslims to be counted among the living in spite of the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.
“To say it is a challenging time for all of us, particularly Muslim faithful, is the least. The coronavirus pandemic has increased the spate of hardship among our people. We therefore use this medium to appeal to the rich among us to deploy their wealth in alleviating the sufferings of the less privileged among us.
“Our people should also see the Eid-el-Adha as a day for sober reflection. Let us strengthen our worship of Almighty Allah, refrain from the wrongdoings and adhere strictly to all safety protocols to flatten the curve of Covid-19 pandemic. We should use this period to also pray fervently to the Almighty Allah to end this dreadful disease”, the APC chieftain said.
