ADC Rejects Ondo LG Results ….Passes Vote Of No Confidence On ODIEC Chairman, Dinakin
By Niyi Olutunde, Akure
The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ondo state chapter, has rejected the results of the last Saturday council poll in which the State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) announced that the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) won in all the 18 Local Government Areas.
ADC, however, passed a vote of no confidence on Prof. Yomi Dinakin, the ODIEC chairman describing the election as the worst ever in the political history of the state.
Bode Iwaloye, leader of the party disclosed this while addressing newsmen in Akure on Sunday alongside the party chairmen across the 18 local government areas of the state.
According to Iwaloye, the just concluded LG election was another huge electoral failure, marred with violence, irregularities and ballot snatching.
He maintained that what happened in Kogi state was exactly what Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu APC led government did in Ondo.
“ODIEC needs to reinvent itself as a truly independent umpire of the electoral process. For now, we have no confidence in ODIEC. The commission has conducted itself as a tool of the APC-led state government especially with the roles of the chairman, Prof. Yomi Dinakin.
“It is an eye opener that APC in Ondo state is not ready for any free and fair election rather telling all other political parties that they should prepare for war. We have heard some APC members singing war songs but we in ADC are not for war, we don’t advocate war, likewise we are not going to rest our voice to say the truth,” he said.
