Professor Ayo Adesopo’s Mum Goes Home

100 year-old Princess, Victoria Adelubi Adesopo, nee Atitebi, mother of Professor Ayo Adesopo, a lecturer from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife has passed on.

She was from Atitebi royal family, Are quarters, Ikere Ekiti, Ekiti state.

Fondly called Eyeleja, Princess Victoria Adesopo died on Friday, May 1, 2020.

Professor Adesopo Confirmed this in a terse message to newsmen in Osogbo, Osun State capital.

Professor Adesopo said “100 years old mother was the immediate younger sister of the famous Late Pa Awilojuoloro of Are Quarters, Ikere Ekiti.

He added that the late Princess Victoria Adesopo got married to Late Sir Jeremiah Olowoyo Adesopo over 70 years ago.

According to the University don , Mama was a famous fish seller before changing business, but popularly known till her passing on to glory as “eyeleja”.

Describing Mama as a lover of peace, Professor Adesopo said just like her late husband, Mama was never afraid of saying the truth even when it was not safe to say it.

He said Burial Date to be announced later by the family

“Until her death, she was an active member of Saint John’s Anglican church, Are, Ikere – Ekiti.

She was survived by children, grandchildren and great – grand children among whom is Professor Ayo Adesopo of Faculty of Administration, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
