COVID-19: Why We Have Not Fumigated Markets – Seyi Makinde

The Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has
disclosed why the state government is yet to fumigate markets across the state as a way to
contain the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic.
Makinde, while giving update on the coronavirus
pandemic in the state stated this in a tweet on Thursday.
He also talked about latest development at the
infectious disease center at Olodo.
He said “In response to enquiries as to why we have not fumigated markets; based on advice from
the state’s epidemiologist, Dr Femi Akinyode,
market fumigation will only be necessary in the
event of sustained community transmission of the
virus.
“We are working to standardise the facilities at the
new Infectious Disease Centre, Olodo. A new 60
KVA generator has been provided and CCTV
installation is ongoing.”
