2nd Anniversary: Group Praises Oyetola, Describes Him As A Disciplined, Prudent Leader
An Osun based Socio-Political Organization, the Development Advocacy Group, DAG says the two year’s tenure of Governor Gboyega Oyetola in Osun State is a testimony that with disciplined leadership and prudent management of resources the lost ground of development can be recovered.
In a statement signed by the Secretary of the Organization, Mr Lekan Ibrahim, DAG commended the Governor for putting end to profligacy that hitherto characterized governance in the state through frugal allocation of resources to well planned programmed.
DAG notes that the frugality of the Governor is responsible for the prompt payment of salary and pension in the last 24 months, implementation of the new minimum wage as well as implementation of the promotions genuinely earned by workers, but restricted to papers in the last 8 years.
“We make bold to say that the Oyetola adminstration has been unarguably prudent with the finances of the state. The people’s resources is now judiciously appropriated on target, rather than frivolous and white elephant projects that serve as conduit pipe as observed in time past In the state”
The Group also described the review of the education policy inherited by the administration as a further proof that Mr Oyetola has the ears of the people and respect same.
“When the past administration imposed single uniform, reclassified and renamed schools, the people resisted this headlong, but foe obstinacy, the past administration raged on without a hue about popular public opinion. The voice of the people was loud enough for anyone go hear. This what Oyetola has done. The resultant consequence is the peaceful atmosphere pervading the entire school system and the renewed support by alumni of the various schools. The state secondary education in particular is again witnessing transformation”.
DAG gave the Governor a nod in the area of Contractor financing road construction project which has abolished waste previously endemic in road construction and other government projects.
However, the Development Advocacy Group urged the Governor to critically pay attention to lessons of the ENDSARS protest with a view to improving youth empowerment and engagement and security of lives and property, which is the primary responsibility of government.
