Declare Emergency Rule in Kaduna, NNPP Tells Buhari
By Our Reporter
The New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, have charged President Muhammadu Buhari to declare state of emergency in Kaduna State if he cares and values the lives of the people of the state especially, Southern Kaduna.
The party lamented that if only Nigeria has a president that cares enough and that places high value on the lives of the citizens, by now Kaduna State under Governor Nasir El-Rufai would have been one of the states under emergency rule and not all these different kinds of argument on the the withdrawal of invitation by the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA.
NNPP said that the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria may not be aware of the gravity of massacre going on in some northern states of Nigeria; let alone the magnitude of what appears to be ethnic cleansing in the southern part of Kaduna State.
According to the party, Civic Media Lab, which monitors mortality in Nigeria’s security crises had declared Kaduna State “the most dangerous state in Nigeria”.
Tha party said that their record has it that between January and June 2020, about 493 people were killed by the so called “unknown gunmen” only in the southern part of Kaduna State; yet no arrest of any of the “unknown gunmen” was made.
“This record shows that innocent people killed by these “unknown gunmen” in southern part of Kaduna State is more than those killed by Boko Haram in any state of Nigeria. The most amazing is the fact that even when 24 hours curfew is imposed on a community in southern part of Kaduna State and security forces are said to be on constant patrol, yet these “unknown gunmen” will still invade same community and operate for hours in mass murder, without any form of resistance from the security forces. All that El-Rufai could do was to claim to have paid the Fulani people (the “unknown gunmen”) a visit and gave them undisclosed huge sum of money, begging them “to stop the killing”. And the result was more brutal attacks resulting in more killing by the same insurgents camouflaging under the name of “unknown gunmen”.
In a statement issued by the NNPP National Publicity Secretary, Rev Emmanuel Olorunmagba, the party commended the leadership and members of the Nigerian Bar Association , NBA, for the courage to withdraw the invitation earlier given to El-Rufai.
Olorunmagba called on well meaning Nigerians to rise, come together and use every means withing the ambit of the law to resist and reject the misrule, tyranny and the insensitivity of any elected leader beginning from the president even to the councilors.
The party said, “For instance, the invitation of El-Rufai as a speaker at the 2020 Annual General Conference of the NBA and the withdrawal of the invitation has not only generated so much social media hype, but has further exposed to the world the gravity of the genocide going on in the southern part of Kaduna State, the suspected conspiracy of the government and the complacency of the security forces; in addition to revealing the lack of regard for judicial processes and court order by Malam El-Rufai. And it made El-Rufai to negatively trend on Twitter for over 48 hours continuously.
“Hence, the party categorically asserts that until many Nigerians will rise and take their fate in their hands to rescue our beloved country, there will not be a country we all can be proud of. The leaders of the NNPP are ready to take the lead and that is why the party has been fearlessly speaking against the ills of this administration, and will still do more based on what is legally permitted for a political party.”
NNPP urged Nigerians to always shun the politics of religion, ethnicity and highest bidders, that have allowed the wrong people to take over power, not based on the quality of what they have upstairs, but based on the quantity of what they have in their bank accounts.
