Coronavirus: PDP Accuses APC Of Endangering Public Health
The Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress of endangering the public health by holding political meetings.
It said it was worrisome that the ruling party could be disregarding the state government directive on ban on any form of gathering as ways of curbing spread of COVID-19.
State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Zadok Akintoye, in a press statement, said it was imperative for citizens to ensure social distancing and avoid public gatherings in a bid to stem the spread of the virus.
Akintoye said the PDP has abided by the state government directives even when there was no verified incident of any citizen of the state having contracted the COVID-19.
He urged the Ondo APC executives to make available a list of all attendees at such meetings for contact tracing, isolation and testing.
Spokesman for the Ondo APC, Alex Kalejaiye, said it has not violated any directive as regards COVID-19 and described the accusation as erroneous insinuation and unproductive political gymnastic.
It said the meetings held were virtual to promote compliance with measures spelt out by the State Government and the NCDC.
“APC could neither indulge nor encourage violation of the directives”, he said.
