Olashore International School Organises Heads Of School Summit

….As Lagos State Commissioner For Education, Others Say, There Is No Alternative To Holistic Education

Olashore International School, Iloko Ijesa,Osun state last weekend made a remarkable and landmark contributions to the field of education through a programme organised to develop and improve on the three educational domains of learners to make them holistic educationists cum learners.

The programme tagged: ” Heads of School Summit, 2020″ with a theme: “Holistic Education, A Transformative  Approach To Learning” held at Royal Park Hotel, Oba Oladele Olashore Way, Iloko-Ijesha, attracted the presence of academic gurus from all walks of life who submitted that, without holistic education, the field of education would be in shambles.

Speaking at the event, Lagos State commissioner for Education,Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, described education as a tool to progress/development, advancement, enhancement  and emphasized on its totality to humanity.

Mrs. Adefisayo pointed out that, it is only through it, that every individual could develop  their emotions, spiritual,psychological, mental and social capabilities strength that could make them to be holistic in life.

The commissioner who argued that,there is a star in every learner, charged teachers to always do their best to encourage learners develop and discover their potentials through empathetic approach and constant counselling.

She appealed to teachers to always try to manage their adversities, failures,inabilities and always encourage collaboration cooperation that could bring them together to be and able to gain from one another.

“Take advantage of every teachable moment to show them love, impart on them, effective academic curriculum in a conducive learning environment and treat them well for it is unacceptable to maltreat your students”, she submitted.

In his own submission at the programme, the Coordinating principal for the Association of International School Education of Nigeria,Ola Opesan, dwelled on how education is not negotiable in life.

According to him,it is only education that could bring the totality in every individual and charged teachers and all stakeholders in the field to always embrace and practically teach their children the principle and practice of education that could make them to be holistic in life.

Also, the principal of Olashore International school,John Toscano encouraged learners to make themselves available for learning and always be curious to search for knowledge.

Toscano stated that, education is golden and charged them to open their gate way of learning to learn new things every moment to become holistic beings in life.

In his own welcome address, the Chairman of the School, Prince Abimbola Olashore said ” the heads of school summit is an avenue for us to discuss and debate the beat ways to train our children in an age where social media awareness poses a challenge to cultural values.”

“I am sure we would all agree that the methods used in the 1980s and 1990s are now archaic and as such we should be able to infuse new teaching and training patterns into our schools. This is why we are here.”

” I also believe the Nigerian education sector can be salvaged and steered in the right direction with committed minds such as yours. When learners are in the hands of those gathered here for this summit, it is very important that we learn and unlearn methods and processes of teaching,caring and moulding these children in such a way that we remain connected with the realities of today: hence the Heads of school summit”, he concluded.
