Ondo Deputy Speaker Impeached

The Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Honourable Ogundeji Iroju has been impeached.

He was impeached yesterday on Tuesday and immediately replaced by Honourable Aderoboye Samuel representing Odigbo Constituency 2.

The former Deputy Speaker, Iroju Ogundeji in a parliamentary resolution presented by Honourable Tomide Akinrogunde was alleged of gross misconduct inimical to the progress of the House.

The Speaker of the House, Oleyelogun Bamidele David, called for nomination and Rt. Honourable Aderoboye Samuel was elected through a majority voice vote.

Hon. Aderoboye Samuel was Deputy Speaker of the House during the fourth Assembly.

In his acceptance speech, Rt Honourable Aderoboye Samuel pledged to work with other stakeholders in ensuring the delivery of democracy dividends to the people.

Meanwhile, Honourable Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, representing Owo Constituency 1 has been appointed as the new Majority leader, Honourable Akingbaso Festus, representing Idanre State Constituency is the new Minority Leader and Honourable Taofeeq Mohammed is the new Chief Whip of the House.

Meanwhile, a panel to investigate the allegation of gross misconduct against the former Deputy Speaker has been inaugurated with Honourable Prince Abayomi Akinruntan as Chairman.

In another development, the name of a Commissioner nominee, Sir Charles Titiloye has been forwarded to the House.

Sir Charles Titiloye is to appear before the Selection Committee of the House on November 26, 2020, Thursday at 10 am.

Titiloye is replacing Justice Kola Olawoye, the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice who has just been removed from office by Governor Akeredolu.

Meanwhile, the House has said it has not received a copy of the court judgement on the suspended Lawmakers.
