Eid-el-Fitr: Akere Felicitates Muslims, Urges Them To Pray For Nigeria Against Covid-19

The Oluomo of Igbajoland, Chief Sunday Akere has urged Muslims in Osun State to use Eid-el-Fitr festival celebration to pray to Allah to heal the nation and the world of the ravaging coronavirus pandemic.

Akere in a statement issued to celebrate the 2020 Eid-el-Fitr festival with Muslims around the world congratulated faithfuls for the successful completion of 1441 Ramadan and urged them to seek God’s favour for Nigeria and the global community.

He added that though, the outbreak of the pandemic has turned the 2020 festival to a low key celebration due to the restriction measures put in place to curtail the spread of coronavirus, yet, he said Muslims and Nigerians in general had cause to thank Allah for witnessing another Eid-el-Fitr.

He also stressed the need for Muslims not to abandon the good deeds of the Holy Months of Ramadan, saying such deeds is most needed at this critical time to spread love and help the needy in the society to battle the scourge ravaging the world.

The statement reads, “The 2020/1441 Ramadan has been completed with the Eid-el-Fitr festival, it is my believe that my Muslim brothers would continue to pray for the country and the world to defeat the ravaging coronavirus soonest”.

“I also urged you all not to abandon the good deeds, the show of love towards the needy that you exhibited during the Holy Month, the country needed it now more than ever in our bid to collectively defeat covid 19”.

“I, therefore urged you all to celebrate the festival with moderation and not to forget to comply with the restriction orders aimed at defeating the coronavirus pandemic. Don’t forget to live an hygienic life and observe the social distancing measures to prevent community transmission of the virus. Ma Allah let us witness many more Ramadan on earth”.
