Osun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Adebayo Adeleke said the administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola has been following due process in the selection of traditional rulers and running of Local Government to guarantee the desired development at the grassroots level.

He gave the assurance during a chat with journalists in his office on Tuesday, while reacting to Obaship tussles in some communities of the state, saying, the administration would not do anything that would run contrary to the rule of law and due process.

According to him, “There is nothing that we do as a government without due process, because we believed in what the majority of the people of Osun want”.

“There are declarations for different communities on the issue of Obas and as a government, we leave the people of the communities to decide who to become their kings through the kingmakers and the modalities they agreed to adopt.

“The kingmakers have their ways of electing an Oba-elect, which would be presented to us for approval and that is the same thing we have done in recent appointments of Obas in the state.

“This is a government of due process, we have been following due process and we will continue to do that. However, that is not to say that we will not listen to those who are aggrieved in some of these issues and we are addressing them”, Adeleke stressed.

The commissioner also noted that, just like in the cases of appointment of traditional rulers, the government, through his ministry has been ensuring effective monitoring and evaluation of local government administration, with a view to giving people the best interms of development.

He then urged the people of the state to continue to support the administration of Governor Oyetola, by maintaining peace in their various community to ensure that his vision for the development of the state at all level is guaranteed.
