Oyo/Osun Command Of Nigeria Customs Increases Revenue Generation, Foils Smuggling

THE Oyo/Osun Command of Nigeria Customs Service(NCS) has again recorded another feat in its revenue generation and anti smuggling activities in the zone.

The Custom Area Comptroller, Mrs Ngozi A disclosed this on Tuesday in Ibadan at a news briefing.

She revealed that the Command foiled the activities of smugglers who specialized in illegal smuggling of various contraband goods within the zone.

The CAC added that the Command in its recent anti smuggling engagements with smugglers, intercepted 2,054 bags of 50kg foreign parboiled rice and 500 drums of 100 liters Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol).

She further disclosed that the command has a 65.4% increase in revenue generation with a total revenue collection of N32,020,103,911.90 from January to June 2020, out of the N62,848,518,366.93 allotted to the area command for the 2020 fiscal year.

Comptroller Ngozi said that the cumulative Duty Paid Value for January to July 2020 has risen to the tune of N483, 191, 238 which represents a 170.39% increase.

The Comptroller revealed that the command has made a total of 41 detentions and 48 seizures and vowed to track and prosecute all those who serve as informants to smugglers according to the laws of the land.

She hinted that all suspects would be tried at the appropriate courts after the completion of discreet investigation.

Comptroller Ngozi who commended the officers and men under the command for their gallantry warned smugglers to desist from their economic sabotage stressing that smugglers would not find it easy in her command.
