Edo: Ogunbiyi Congratulates Obaseki, Commends Electorates
The Group Chairman, Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi has congratulated Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki on his success at the just concluded governorship poll.
Ogunbiyi, in a statement signed and made available to CityMirrorNews in Osogbo, Osun State capital, Sunday, described the victory as ordained, clear and irrepressible will of the electorates to stamp out godfatherism.
He stated this after the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC announced Obaseki as the winner of the poll having got 307,857 while the opposition’s Osagie Ize-Iyamu polled 223,622 votes.
The chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party in Osun State, according to the statement, said: “I congratulate my brother and people’s governor, His Excellency Godwin Obaseki on his well deserved victory at the just concluded poll.
“I also commend his deputy, Mr Philip Shuiabu for his amazing optimism, courage and loyalty. The gallantry and sacrifices of incredible leaders of our great Party and indomitable people of Edo State who voted for charismatic leadership, stayed vigilant and took strong decision against godfatherism and poverty are huge and highly commendable. Congratulations to all PDP family. I am glad the keenly contested exercise ended in praise.
“By this development, we are again reminded that God alone is omnipotent, that power belongs to the people and that with cohesion and firm resolve, our great Party stands greater chances of winning elections anytime.”
