Breaking: Lassa Fever Outbreaks In Ondo

An outbreak of Lassa fever has again been reported in Ondo State.
A source in one of the hospitals said score of patients have been affected by the deadly disease that now getting out of control.
The source disclosed to journalists in Akure that there were more reported cases at the Federal Medical Centre in Owo, Ondo state and other state government hospitals.
It was gathered that medical doctor, health workers at the FMC, Owo were currently working under fear of contracting the epidemic.
Another unconfirmed report said the disease has claimed many lives at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo.
While confirming the incident, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro said the issue is being addressed by government officials.
He said, “I am currently at the governor’s office and we are having a meeting.
That’s (Lassa fever outbreak ) what we trying to address now. We are working on the report available and the next line of action. That is why I am in the governor’s office.
There will be pronouncement after the meeting”.
It would be recalled that similar outbreak occurred in January 2018 at the same FMC, Owo.
