Police Accountability, Discipline Mechanism Weak – Gbajabiamila
The speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, says the mechanisms that can make the police more disciplined and accountable are weak.
He said this in Abuja on Wednesday at the Legislative Agenda Public Policy Dialogue themed ‘Policing and Human Rights in Nigeria’.
“The Police cannot be effective when the mechanisms for accountability and discipline are too weak to identify, remove and prosecute rogue officers as a matter of course.
The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu Abubakar, represented by the DIG, Research and Planning, Adeleye Olusola, said the Force needed time to study the Police Service Commission Bill and make its position known.
