Breaking: Police Partially Lifts Siege on Fela’s Afrikan Shrine
By Our Reporter
The Nigerian Police Force has partially lifted the siege on Fela Anikulapo’s Afrikan Shrine located around Agidingbi in Alausa, Lagos.
However, movement’s in and out of the Shrine is still limited but the NERDC Street where barricades were mounted yesterday, Tuesday, has been opened to the public.
On Tuesday, Police mounted barricades at the entry and exit points of the street where the Afrikan Shrine is located.
Apart from banning vehicles from using the road, other road users were equally banned.
The heavy presence of security agent’s around the reverred Afrikan Shrine was allegedly an attempt to forestall the #EndSARS campaigners from holding their meeting at the Shrine.
A visit to the Shrine by CityMirrorNews correspondent today, Wednesday, revealed that while the street has been opened for business, there is still significant presence of security agent’s around the area.
It was reported that some police officers are stationed at the entrance of Afrikan Shrine.
CityMirrorNews can not confirm if the #EndSARS movement rescheduled their meeting or the meeting held elsewhere as a result of the barricade as at the time of filling this report.
The government has vowed that it would not allow the second wave of #EndSARS protest.
