Osun New Education System: Total Compliance As Students Back To School In Old Unforms

Stakeholders have expressed optimism about the future of education in Osun State following the review of education system in the state.

The stakeholders including public schools authorities, students and old students expressed the hope when the commissioner for works, Engr Remi Omowaye led Local Government Education Authority chairmen and members of State Universal Basic Education Board on tour of public schools to monitor the level of compliance with the change of uniform directive among the students.

Nostalgic feelings covered the atmosphere as old students who were among the monitoring team caught a glimpse of their old uniforms on their juniors.

Explaining the rationale behind the tour of the schools, the commissioner for works, Engr Remi Omowaye said the state governor , Mr Gboyega Oyetola mandated the team to ensure strict compliance with the reviewed policy to heighten education standard in the state.


Omowaye expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance in all the schools visited within a short notice, urging old students and Parents’, Teachers’ Association to support the government in the area of getting seasoned teachers for key subjects the schools.

The principal of Ogedengbe school of science, Ilesa Mrs Felicia Orimogunje told the monitoring team that response has been encouraging on the part of parents, stressing that 99% of the students would have bought the uniform before the deadline.

An alumnus of Saint Margaret’s Grammar School, Mrs Yemisi Ariyibi thanked the state governor for being responsive to the yearning of the parents and old students for review of the education system, noting that she was in the school to supervise the renovation of the school’s hall by the Lagos branch of the school’s old students.

Bearing their minds on the reversed educational system and school uniforms, a student of Ilesa grammar school, Ilesa, Adedire Opeyemi and his counterpart from Saint Margaret’s Grammar School, ilesa,Mercy Olanibi said the development ha rekindled their hope for better academic experience in public schools.

In the team were the chairman local government education authorities in Ilesa west, Mr Philip Ademola and his counterpart from Ilesa North East Mr Idowu Falade and Mr Olaoluwa Adegbola from Osun State Universal Basic Education Board.
