The Coordinator of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) in Osun state, Prince Adedeji Aladesawe, has called on the South West governors to take another critical look at the security situation in the region, especially, now that part of Oyo state had been infiltrated by armed terrorists.

Aladesawe made this known in Osogbo,Osun state capital, on Thursday, while reacting to the recent statement by the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams, on the spate of insecurity in Kisi, Oyo state.

The Osun State OPC chieftain said he was worried that the region was being ravaged by suspected terrorists, adding that the role of the southwest governors in ensuring the safety of the people of the region cannot be undermined.

“It is very important for us to nip the ugly trend of these bandits, kidnappers and terrorists in the bud. Southwest governors must take Aare Gani Adams’ report seriously. We need to address the influx of the terrorists in the region.

“Within a period of two weeks,Aare Gani Adams had raised the alarm on two occasions. The first was the report that over 500 trained ISIS terrorists were sighted on Power bikes lurking around the South West forest on the abandoned Lusada route that links Sokoto and very close to Igbo Ora. The recent report that armed terrorists are now in Kishi showed that the southwest is becoming prone to unprecedented insecurity, banditry and terrorism”

He also admitted that the security situation in the country has reached a new dimension with the recent infiltration of terrorists groups in Kisi.

“These reports are weighty, the governors should wake up to their responsibilities as the chief security officer of their respective states. I think they should engage Aare Gani Adams in serious security meetings and deliberations to tame the stealthy and raging invasion of Yorubaland by terrorists”

Aladesawe maintained that the southwest security initiatives, better known as Operation Amotekun will always perform better with support from stakeholders even as he urged residents of the mostly affected communities to be conscious of all the happenings in their respective communities.
