The Osun state government under the leadership of Governor Gboyega Oyetola in partnership with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) office, Abuja has embarked on three major capital projects in the state.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on SDGs, who is also the focal person, Hon. Shittu Williams made this known while inspecting the ongoing projects which commenced few weeks ago, on Monday.
According to Williams, a state-of-the-art 120 bed capacity Mother and Child hospital in Osogbo, a fully equipped 80 bed mother and child hospital capacity in Iragbiji, and one modern skill and vocational acquisition centre in Dagbolu are presently under construction.
According to the SSA on SDGs in Osun State, the mother and child hospitals when completed will signal the arrival of improved healthcare delivery and well being in the communities.
He further explained that it would give the women in Osun opportunity for ante natal and maternal care, provide prioritized healthcare to infants and children, resolve problems associated with transmissible, non-transmissible, communicable and non-communicable diseases in the state, which will go a long way to improve the health indices, thereby complementing the visionary transformation Governor Gboyega Oyetola has already performed in the health sector with the revitalization of 332 PHCs and upgrading of three general hospitals.
Speaking on the significant importance of the Skill Acquisition Centre, the SSA said the centre would be made available for prospective youths who intend to acquire skills and new innovation in craftsmanship, which will further reduce the rate of unemployment and reduce youth restiveness in the state providing workable and sustainable engagements to all idle hands.
He said that the two hospitals are billed to be delivered, completed and commissioned on or before the end of the June while Skill Acquisition Centre would be completed by ending of the March, 2021.
