No Plan for N-POWER – Oyo State TESCOM Chairman
By Abiodun Ogunrinde, Ibadan
Pastor Akin Alamu, the Chairman of Oyo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has hinted that there is no plan for beneficiaries of the federal government socio-economic investment programme, Npower in the on going recruitment exercise.
Pastor Akin Alamu disclosed this earlier today the 15th of February, 2020 while featuring on a programme called Political Circuit on Fresh FM Radio station in Ibadan.
The TESCOM chairman had stated that plans were on ground for the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) teachers who he said are to be considered in the on going recruitment. He also stated that over four thousand NYSC members are assisting schools in teaching in schools across the state. He however said he would not like to comment on the Npower beneficiaries because they are no committed to teaching in the state.
Thousands of Npower beneficiaries are already deployed in schools across the state and many of these beneficiaries are hopeful that they may be given special preference in the recruitment process.
Despite irregular payments of their monthly stipends, many of the beneficiaries deployed to schools in the state continue to do their job and in fact, many schools will not be able to cope without them as teaching staff are not enough in most schools in Oyo state.
