An octogenerian elder statesman, High Chief Abiola Ogundokun has hailed President Muhammadu Buhari, the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, Governor Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State for the approval and citing of the Federal College of Education in Iwo.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo, Ogundokun extols the virtue of President Buhari as a trustworthy leader that keeps his words.

According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari has through this singular action as a listening political leader assuaged the age long fears of marginalization against the peace loving people of Iwo land that has been yearning for Government presence in their territories.

He also lauded the indefatigue efforts of the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, the Technical Board of Colleges of Education, Governor Gboyega Oyetola in ensuring that justice and fairplay was applied in citing the college in Iwo.

He added that his determination to bequeath a worthy legacy to generations of Iwo indigenes yet unborn has been fulfilled through the citing of the college. This is because according to the elder statesman, who was the National Publicity Secretary of the defunct ruling National Party of Nigeria (NPN) “charity begins at home. You cannot be a good national patriot without showing seeds of development in your community. My love for development of my Iwo community is not measurable and it has always gingered my zeal and actions.”

“It would be recalled that High Chief Abiola Ogundokun in company of select Iwo elders of thought lobbied in accordance with the tenets of modern politicking and politics to facilitate the citing of the Federal College of Education in Iwo by the Federal Government.

“This is contrary to insinuations in some quarters mostly on social media platforms that it was due to antics and subtle threats by some in other quarters as Federal Government cannot be intimidated into taking noble action.

“Investigation shows Chief Abiola Ogundokun as an elder statesman in Iwo, Osun State and national patriot with network of contacts used his influence and contact to ensure that the institution was cited in Iwo town.

“Chief Ogundokun did not want to respond or join issue with anybody on this feat as an elder statesman but leave everything to posterity. However, it must be put on record that lobby as an act in local, national and international affairs is normal. This is essential to peace building and development which was the instrument he explored.

“Chief Ogundokun wrote letters to the Presidency and Federal Ministry of Education indicating and pleading the interest of his Iwo community in having the institution cited there.”

He pledged his vast 17 acres of land in Iwo town to be used by the Federal Government in citing the institution.

Ogundokun followed his letters with personal visits to Abuja in physical appearance to ensure that it was thoroughly perused for positive consideration.

It was gathered that Ogundokun believes that charity begins at home and as an elder statesman, he is prepared at all times to unrelentingly contribute to the growth and development of his community, Osun State, Nigeria and humanity as he has always done in the past.

It would be recalled that Chief Ogundokun led a delegation of eminent Iwo sons on a thank you visit to the Minister of Education , Mallam Adamu Adamu to thank President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, February 13, 2020 in his office, Abuja.

He concluded that truth is constant while falsehood gets exposed and fizzled out with time.
