2023: Group Launches Tinubu For President Campaign

The Southwest Agenda (SWAGA)
has commenced a campaign for the South West to produce the next president with a special interest in the National Leader of the APC Asiwaju Bola Tinubu succeeding President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

The group will be launched in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Tuesday.

The chairman, Planning Committee, Senator Dayo Adeyeye, led members of the committee to the Olubadan of Ibadan Oba Saliu Adetunji and the Alaafin of Oyo Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi 111 for royal blessing on Monday. Members of the planning committee include Senator Adesoji Akanbi, Hon. Rotimi Makinde, Hon. Bosun Oladele, Hon. Deji Jakande, Otunba Abayomi Ogunnusi, Mrs Kafilat Ogbara, Hon Ayo Omidiran,Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde (Abena) and Hon. Ogidan.
Speaking on the purpose of their visit, Senator Adeyeye, who thanked the monarchs for the audience, said his political philosophy was engineered towards the peaceful co- existence of the people,unity and fairness to the people accross the country, noting that once the people are well taken care of, meaningful development would naturally take place.

He said the South West must plan to work in unity as a team and avoid working at cross-purposes for easy human resources management through qualitative education which the region is known for. He appealed to  the people of South West to remain focused, adding that the team was interested in seeing a competent Yoruba person succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

He, however, said a former Lagos State Governor Bola Tinubu, stands taller than most politicians in the country today, stressing that he is able to offer the right leadership which the country needs.

Adeyeye also pointed out that Tinubu was yet to confirm if he is interested in contesting but that the group embarked on the campaign for the overall interest of the Yoruba and Nigeria at large because the interest of the region and that of the entire nation is paramount to SWAGA

Oba Adeyemi expressed delight at the move. He regaled the group with the exploits of Yoruba in the building of Nigeria and the development of democracy in the country. The monarch said the decision to visit him and seek his blessing was aposite, saying it was in line with Yoruba cultural value.

He described Tinubu as an extremely qualified candidate that he honestly endorsed. 

He prayed for the success of the project with a promise to continue to be a partner on the South West agenda .
