The executive governor of Osun state, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola has commended the efforts and feats of Hon. Kola Salami, a grassroots sport enthusiast for his wisdom in using sports (soccer) in bringing youths together for productive engagement.

This is even as the governor stressed that football has become a global phenomenon and a great tool for social mobilization of the people especially the youth.

He said it was that reality that has made his administration to be investing in youth development policies and programs.

The governor made the statement when the rising politician presented to him, trophies won by his team Kola Salami FC during the just concluded “2020 Unique Egalitarian Soccer Championship Finals” held on Saturday, 5th December, 2020 at the Federal Polytechnic Ede Sports Complex.

Kola Salami FC emerged winner of the “Chief Dokun Afolabi U-17 Golden Soccer Tournament Cup” among many other prizes.

Receiving the trophy on behalf of the governor, Prince Ajibola Famurewa, OSUN SUBEB chairman said the noble gesture of Hon. Kola Salami in having a football team and sponsoring them for tournament is in line with the vision of Governor Oyetola to see that Osun youths develop in all areas of life, including sports.

He urged Hon. Salami to continue complimenting the efforts of the state govt in youth empowerment and development in the grassroots.

In his response, Hon. Kola Salami thanked the SUBEB boss and said as young man, he is encouraged to invest in sports development because it has become a rallying point for our youths.

He said “it is my aim to continue to monitor the progress of the raw talents we are discovering to help them in necessary ways in the football careers”.

He promised to continue working for the success of the governor and the party in the grassroots.
