OSUN PDP Congratulates Christians On Easter Celebration, Advises On Fight Against COVID-19
The Peoples Democratic Party, Osun State Chapter has congratulated the Christian communities in the state on this year’s Easter Celebration.
In a statement signed by the state chairman of the party, Hon. Olasoji Adagunodo and made available to CityMirrorNews in Osogbo, he appealed to the citizens of the state to be wary of the ongoing partial lockdown in the state occasioned by the ravaging Coronavirus pandemic.
Adagunodo charged the Christians on the need for them to be sensitive to the danger posed and the veracity of destruction the pandemic can bring to any society that doesn’t take it’s preventive measures ordered by the government with seriousness, especially, now that the world has become a global neighborhood and as we read and watch how it is ravaging the advanced nation’s of the world on daily basis.
He also appealed to the Christians to emulate the lessons of Easter as demonstrated by Jesus as love, sacrifice and endurance for fellow human beings to the point of paying the supreme price for the remission of our sins.
Adagunodo appealed to the people to listen to the government, those in authority and religious leaders by ensuring that they stick strictly to the rules of social distancing plus the avoidance of multitudes and unnecessary gatherings in the name of celebrating Easter plus washing of hands and use of hand sanitizer regularly. By this, he continued, we would avoid endangering our lives and those of others and our collective health won’t be at risk as a people since the discomfort that the lockdown is causing us is temporary, more so that we have a lot more years of Easter celebration ahead of us once we are still alive.
He however, appealed to those who have the financial capacity to stretch out their hands of friendship and fellowship and give to the less privileged and lowly members of our society whose means of livelihood depends basically on menial jobs, casual labour and their daily efforts.
Adagunodo stressed further that “we must all understand that the safety of all of us, without mincing words, is dependent on the safety of those who cannot afford at least, two regular meals per day, without our assistance to them, they may want to flout the lockdown order in search of their daily feedings.”
He appealed personately to the well-to-do not to forget that for our obedience to the lockdown to be meaningful and not go in vain “these class of people have to be given enough food to sustain them throughout the period of the COVID-19 lockdown.”
Adagunodo also commended our health workers in the state, and indeed in the country as a whole, who are in the COVID-19 battle front for taking it upon themselves to save all of us without wavering, he also prayed to God to be their shield and safety.
He also gave kudos to all security agencies who maintain law and order and appealed to them to be a bit civil with the citizens who may want to go berserk by remembering that they didn’t prepare for the situation we found ourselves and rather than handling them with iron hands, they should tutor them and make them realize the importance of maintaining stay-at-home rules which is for the benefit of everybody.
The PDP Chairman also admonished the people to always remember God as the Alfa and Omega, the beginning and the end who owns all things, including what we see as our personal possessions that God only assigns people to be in charge only for a while, this is the more reason why we must remember him in all our dealings especially, in our pursuant of means, money, power and so on since He is the only one who gives all things to whom he feels like, no matter our efforts.”
