Lockdown: Islamic Group, Muslim Coalition Against Covid-19 Distributes Palliatives In Osun

An Islamic group, Muslim Coalition Against Covid-19 has commenced distribution of food aid to residents of Osun state to cushion the effects of the movement restriction occasioned by dreaded Coronavirus pandemic.
Nigerian Government had imposed stay-at-home order on its citizens as part of Precautionary Measures to curb the spread of the virus and to avoid Community transmission.
Speaking on the gesture, the state Cordinator of the Muslim Coalition Against Covid-19, Alhaji Adewumi Sefiu Adebowale said the distribution of the relief package was aimed at mitigating the hunger and hardship inflicted on the residents of the state by the lockdown caused.
Adebowale hinted that no fewer than three hundred aged and vulnerable people are to benefit in the humanitarian relief materials which include rice, Gari and Wheat in Osun state.
He further explained that the Coalition divided the Relief Materials into two – Laoye Grammar School,, Ede and NASFAT Village, Osogbo for easier distribution.
According to him, the Muslim Coalition Against Covid-19 which comprises over 53 Muslim societies decided to do a pilot test of palliatives distribution in six states including Lagos, Osun, Ogun, Oyo PortHarcourt and Abuja before extending it to all other states across the federation.
Adebowale said the gusture was to compliment the efforts of the state and federal government at alleviating the suffering of the people during this lockdown.
He also used the opportunity to call on well meaning individuals to remember the needy at this period and lend a helping hand, however little it might be.
The representative of Muslim Coalition Against Covid-19 enjoined residents of the state on the need to always maintain social distancing directives, washing their hands regularly and desist from violating lockdown order giving by the government so as to eradicate the speed of the Deadly Coronavirus in the state.
At the distribution exercise carried out in line with social distancing directive, the beneficiaries described the gesture as a timely one , urging other well meaning Nigerians to emulate the good gusture at this trying time.
Speaking on behalf of other beneficiaries, Muftau Afolabi appreciated the the Islamic group praying Allah to continue to enrich their pocket.
