Osun Lawmaker, Akande Trains, Empowers Constituents

A member of Osun State House of Assembly representing Olorunda constituency, Hon Kunle Akande has trained 26 youths and women in his constituency on different skill acquisition programmes.

He also gave out 13 sewing machines, 8 dryers and batik equipment to 26 beneficiaries.

Akande who disclosed this at graduation ceremony in Osogbo, Osun State capital said the youths and women were trained on hairdressing, fashion designing, and batik dressmaking among others.

He said the training was to help beneficiaries support their family, adding that the gusture was part of the promises he made during the electioneering campaign that he would give the welfare of his constituents utmost priority.

Akande who is also the Chairman House Committee on Information speaking at the event that was held at the field of Oba Adenle Government School, Olorun Local Government, Osogbo admonished the beneficiaries to put to use all the training.

He said: “It is a pay back time for my constituency. I gave a promise that I will make the empowerment of young ones a priority. 26 graduands who are trained in various skills like hairdressing, fashion designing, and batik dressmaking. They were given the tools needed. They are given 13 sewing machines, 8 dryers and batik equipment for the rest 26.”

“I admonish other people who are yet to benefit from the empowerment to be patient, they will be included.

“We should see it as political largess and patronage. This will go a long way to help the economy of the state.” He added

“I implore the beneficiaries to pay attention to skill acquisition training and make good use of the equipment that was donated. I want to congratulate those that benefited from the gesture and I admonish other political office holders to emulate same.

He said that they will be monitored and thereafter they will be given capital needed. He implored the masses to keep supporting All Progressives Congress.

They already have what they have to start. They will be monitored. They will be given capital. More are still coming next year.i want the masses to stay by APC this is the reason we are doing what we are doing because we always give hope to the masses.

The lawmaker while appreciating the people of the Constituency, Political office holders, market men and women , traditional rulers who came to grace the occasion urged them to continue to support Governor Gboyega Oyetola in his bid to take the state to the greater heights, saying that the Governror really meant well for the state.

The Osun State Deputy Governor, Mr Benedict Alabi, who issued certificates to the beneficiaries, while speaking during the event, urged the beneficiaries to make judicious used of the equipment.

Alabi who commended the lawmaker for the good gesture said, Honourable Akande has done well by ensuring that he put smiles on the faces of the people of his constituency.

The deputy governor , however used the occasion to appeal to members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to continue to be peaceful and desist from anything capable of causing crisis within the party.

He also took the advantage of the programme to sensitise residents of the state on the need to always adhere strictly to COVID-19 preventive measures so as to avoid another round of pandemic in the state.
