APC Clears 11 Aspirants For Ondo Primary
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Screening Committee for Ondo Governorship Primary Election has cleared eleven aspirants angling for its ticket at the July 20 primary election.
The reason for disqualification of the only candidate was not made public.
He is to appeal to the Screening Appeal Committee on Saturday.
Chairman of the committee, Alhaji Tijjani Tumsa, disclosed this while presenting the report of the two-day exercise to the National Secretary of the party’s Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee (CEONCPC) at the party National Secretariat on Friday.
He said each of the aspirants was scored based on their presentations and educational qualifications, among other criteria but noted one of them failed to meet up with the requirements set by the party.
“Of the 12 aspirants for the election, the committee has deemed it possible to qualify eleven of the aspirants to contest for the primary.
“We understand of course that the 12th aspirant has the option of appealing the decision of the committee.
“I will like to emphasise and to commend the aspirants who cooperated in no small measures for the success of this exercise.”
APC Caretaker Chairman, Governor Mai Mala Buni, commended the committee for a thorough job.
The chairman, who was represented by the caretaker committee’s secretary, Sen. John Akpan Udoedehe, assured that the report will be transferred to the appeal committee for necessary action.
The aspirants that participated in the screening exercise include Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu; Joseph Olusola Iji; Odimayo Okunjimi; Olayide Adelami; Issac Kekemeke; Olusola Oke; lfeoluwa Oyedele and Olajumoke Anifowoshe.
Others were: Awodeyi Akinsehinwa; Akinola Colinus; Olubukola Adetula; Dr Abraham Olusegun and Dr. Nathaniel Adojutelegan.
