Uniosun Names Facilities, Roads After Aregbesola, Oba Sijuade, Others

The management of Osun State University has named key Roads and facilities after Late Ooni of Ife- Oba Okunade Sijuade, Immediate past Governor of Osun State – Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Chairman Governing Council of the University- Professor Peter Okebukola and the Pro-Chancellor of the University, Mallam Yusuf Alli.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the University, Mr. Ademola Adesoji noted that this was done to keep up with the memories of the good legacy left behind by the past Visitors, Chancellors, and Pro-Chancellors of Osun State University respectively.

The unveiling of the names of the roads and facilities which was part of the activities of the 9th Convocation ceremony of the University had in attendance all members of the Governing Council, Management, staff, and well-wishers of the University, where the main administrative building in Osogbo was named after the pioneer Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University, Professor Peter Okebukola; the access road to the college of health sciences of the University named after the immediate past Chancellor of the University, Late Oba Okunade Sijuade, the Ooni of Ife; and the engineering building of the University named after the immediate past visitor to the University, Mr. Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola.

At the same event, the approval of the visitor to the University, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola on the naming of the road intersecting the Prince Tunde Ponnle Drive from the main gate of the University was also announced to be named after the current Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University, Mallam Yusuf OlaOlu Ali and was unveiled as “Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN.

The Pro-Chancellor of the University, Mallam Yusuf Ali, SAN while speaking at the unveiling ceremony said, “We decide to name key projects and roads of the University after key individuals that have impacted the University positively which their legacies are currently helping the University in moving to greater heights. These wonderful people have set a high standard which we are currently building on.

It is in our spirit of appreciation of their wonderful deeds that we came up with the naming of facilities and roads after them and I did not even know that the current Governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola will add my name to it. We hereby unveil these names of streets and projects and declare that going forward the roads and facilities should be addressed with their new names,” Mallam Ali added.

It will be recalled that the University’s Main Auditorium was named after the pioneer visitor to the University, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and the University Library was also named after the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the University.
