Governor of Osun, Mr Gboyega Oyetola has urged the Directors of Works in all the Local Government Areas of the state to bring their professionalism into bear towards the successful implementation of the proposed five kilometres of roads in each council.

Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Adebayo Adeleke and his counterpart in the Ministry of Works, Engineer Remi Omowaiye delivered the message at a meeting with the Directors, held at the Ministry of Local Government Conference Hall, Abere.

Adeleke said, the report of the officials at the local governments would form part of the guide that the government would follow to guarantee the successful implementation of the project.

According to him, this was an evidence that Governor Oyetola hold the Directors of Works at the local government level in high esteem and respect their judgement, saying they must prove their capacity.

He advised the directors not to allow job of low quality and report any action that could portray them as incompetent.

Omowaiye also said, the active involvement of the council officials was borne out of the fact that they understand the terrain and have the professional expertise, urging them to deliver on the mandate given to them.
He then ordered the directors to return to the sites of the roads being proposed to measure them, with a view to verifying the authenticity of the proposals.

The commissioner also tasked the council directors to be professional in handling the technical aspect of the job, so as to give back to the citizenry.
