I’m Committed To Keep Osun Safe, Says Oyetola
Osun state Governor, Alhaji ‘Gboyega Oyetola has promised that his administration would continue to ensure that adequate security was provided for the citizenry of the state.
Oyetola gave the promise during the Annual Lecture/Celebration of his first year in office recently organized by Yoruba Progressive Forum held at Seventh Day Adventist High School, Ede.
Represented by Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties, Hon Lekan Badmus said everybody was welcomed into the state, but there would be no room for criminal elements.
The governor also appreciated the Yoruba Progressive Forum for organising such an help noticing programme , which he said would go a long way with the government’s efforts to sensitising citizens on the need to be security conscious.
Oyetola further explained that as part of his administration’s effort to strengthen the security of the state , he has procured 20 Armoured Personnel Carriers and 20 additional vehicles with communication gadgets.
Governor Oyetola said: “In a bid to provide security for our people and sustain the reputation of the State as the most peaceful State in Nigeria, we have procured 20 Armoured Personnel Carriers and 20 additional vehicles with communication gadgets.
“We are in constant touch with the leaderships of all the security agencies in the State to strategise on the best way to provide security and safety for the people.
Speaking on the topic: “Solution to Insecurity and Governance in Nigeria”, the Head of Harmonised Vigilante Group in Osun, Alhaji Rilwan Hussein popularly called Ya Salaam assured residents of safety.
He advocated for deeper synergy between his group and the police to sustain peace and tranquillity in the state.
The security expert explained that although the state was safe and calm, but there was the need for all to come together in order to continue enjoying the peaceful atmosphere in the state.
Hussein advised the people of the state to always maintain high level of vigilance and cooperate with security agencies to make the state remain a peaceful state among the comity of states in the country.
“Our state is arguably the safest state in Nigeria, as a result of vigilance of the people and proactiveness of the security agencies.
“As a vigilance group, we are mobilising our men towards complementing the efforts of the police , to provide adequate security for the residents.
“We must sustain the peace and tranquillity we enjoy in the state, and keep a conscious watch on those that will be visiting the state for one reasons or the other.
He commended Yoruba Progressive Forum for putting up the programme , saying the lecture would in no small measure raise the consciousness of the people.
Earlier, Alhaji Olalekan Lateef, General Coordinator , Yoruba Progressive Forum in his welcome address urged Osun residents to be security conscious at all time.
Lateef who commended Governor Gboyega Oyetola over his effort at ensuring that the people of the state are living in peaceful environment.
He noted that Yoruba Progressive Forum is not a political organization but a forum created to see to the unity of Yorubas across the country.
