Coronavirus: Journalist, Pastor Test Positive In Ondo As Case Rises to 43
Ondo State Government said it has so far tested 568 persons for COVID-19.
It said the number of COVID-19 cases in the state has risen to 43 out of which nine persons died and 22 treated and discharged.
Ondo Commissioner for Health, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro, who spoke at a briefing said 14 persons were still receiving treatment.
Dr. Adegbenro said 130 contacts of the confirmed cases were being monitored while active case search were still ongoing.
Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, on his part, said among those recently confirmed were a journalist based in Ore and a clergy man.
Akeredolu said the journalist was in contact with the 28th confirmed case while the clergy man died while receiving medical attention.
He said an America citizen who visited his family and got infected died before results of his samples returned.
According to him, “Things do not look very good. Since my last address, we have recorded 19 new cases of COVID-19. This additional 19 cases is a significant rise from where we are before now. It is fearful and alarming from what we have seen so far. The threat is alarming than ever before.
“Our greatest fear is here. We have to choose between life and death. The threat level remains high.”
