The Director, Youth and Student Ministries Department, Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev. Dr. S.A.K. Olaleye has greeted youths of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, NBC,on the celebration of its 2020 Youth Week which commence on Sunday, June 3, 2020 saying that the word of God can not be locked down.

In his greetings message titled, “Baptist Youth Celebrating The Living Faith”, Olaleye noted that this year’s celebration is unique because of the Coronavirus disease which would make some youths to meet online while some may postpone it.

Olaleye added that unusual times like this should be used to appreciate God because that is what the Bible instructs.

The message read:

“I bring greetings of peace from the throne of mercy to all the great youth of the Nigerian Baptist Convention as you celebrate your week. At a very unusual time like this in the history of the world, we have every reason to celebrate because the Bible says in everything and in every situation we should be thankful to God because this is the wish of the Lord for us in Christ Jesus (1Thess. 5:18). The Nigerian Baptist Convention Youth Week celebration for this year is a unique one. Unique in the sense that some of our youths may be meeting online while some may postpone it because of the current ravage of coronavirus. By whatever means or method we may be celebrating the Youth Week, we raise our voice together in appreciation to God that though there may be lockdown on so many things all over the world but the Word of God cannot be locked down as long as there are people living in the world.

“For this year, the Baptist youth are celebrating the living faith. This is very appropriate for the moment. As at the time of planning, when we chose the theme “The Living Faith”, no one envisaged that coronavirus would be displaying its power during this Youth Week. Many people have died all over the world as a result of this pandemic but glory be to God that our faith still remains strong in the Lord because it is a living faith. Whatever might have happened or may happen, we are coming out of it stronger in Jesus’ name. Our hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. We will see the end of this hard times in Jesus’ name.

The Lord will be with you and His power will envelope you. Either you are able to gather physically or you observe the week online, none of you will be missing at the end of this coronavirus season in Jesus’ name. The coming year will be better and we are going to recover all our losses in Jesus’ name.
Remain peaceful in the hands of the Lord and may His grace be ever sufficient for you.

The Youth Week celebration is an annual programme of the Nigerian Baptist Convention where youths are given the opportunity to coordinate activities of the local Baptist Churches for a week. It is usually celebrated in the first week of June annually.
