National Association Of Seadogs’ Medical Mission Warns Against 2nd Wave Of COVID-19

The National Association of Seadogs, also known as Pyrates Confraternity, has donated face masks and hand sanitizers to the Kwara State government through the ministry of health.

This is in support of the efforts at curtailing the adverse effects of a possible second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in Kwara State and Nigeria.

The effort being executed by the Medical Mission of NAS comprising medical and health experts is keeping with the tradition of upholding humanitarian ideals as contained in the the Four Compass Points of the international organisation.

The association is firmly committed to building a healthier nation as this similar gesture is being replicated in the 36 States of the country and the Federal capital territory.

The Area Mate, Area2 in charge of Ogun, Oyo and Kwara, Ach. Gbenga Akintola, who presented the kits on behalf of the NAS Cap’n and International President, Abiola Owoaje warns the people against the resurgence of the novel coronvirus in the country as it is being witnessed in some countries across the world saying NAS is just being proactive.

“We are all aware of the COVID-19 pandemic that has been ravaging all over the world and our country, Nigeria; and we are made to know of an impending 2nd wave of the flu. The National Association of Seadogs, Pyrates Confraternity is just being proactive so that our people will not be caught unawares and be victims of this”. He said.

The Area Mate was accompanied by the Capoon of Ruwansafi Deck, Mr Tunde Dario and members of the Kwara branch of the organisation.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the state government, the Commissioner for Health, Doctor Raji Rasaq thanked the Seadogs for the support to the government and promised a judicious use of the supplies.

“We sincerely appreciate what the Seadogs organisation is doing as it is being done even in America where NGOs rise to support their government and people because government can’t do it alone. We encourage others to emulate this gesture”.

The National Association of Seadogs popularly known as the Pyrates Confraternity is a non governmental organization that has been carrying out charitable and humanitarian programmes since its inception in 1952 by a group of young men led by Wole Soyinka (now Nobel Laureate) named the Magnificent Seven at the University College, Ibadan, now University of Ibadan.

With solely intellectuals and professionals of over 25,000 in its membership in Nigeria and across the world, the National Association of Seadogs has since been advocating for Human Rights and social justice towards a just society.
