Covid-19: Constituents Reject Rep’s Palliative Package In Osun
Party leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress in Orolu local government area of Osun State on Sunday rejected the COVID-19 palliative package given to them by the member representing Irepodun/Olorunda/Orolu/Osogbo federal constituency, Olubukola Oyewo.
The package, which according to information gathered by InsightMedia was a 10kg of semovita.
According to a source present at the meeting who pleaded anonymity, members of the party were angered by the directive by the lawmaker that the packages should be distributed to men in each ward.
Rejecting the package, the constituents asked the emissaries of the Rep member if “they will be living on semovita alone?
“They also questioned the rationale behind the distribution to the males in the ward alone,” the source said.
When asked about the modalities of the distribution, Opeyemi Oladimeji, the Personal Assistant and Media Coordinator of Hon Oyewo, did not answer phone calls as it rang out while he also did not respond to the text sent on his phone number.
Our correspondent waited for over 12 hours but got no response from him.
However, another aide of the honourable contacted by our correspondent said he knows nothing about the incident in Orolu local government, adding that he only only monitored the distribution in Osogbo.
He promised to contact the person in charge of Orolu and get back to our correspondent – a promise he never fulfilled till the time of press.
