Osun First Baby Of 2020 Gets Gifts From First Lady

Osun first lady Mrs Kafayat Oyetola carrying the first baby of the year 2020 born 1:00am weight 3.4kg with the parent Mr and Mrs Adewale Abass at the State Hospital Asubiaro Osogbo,Osun State.

The joy of Mrs Kafayat Adewale who was delivered of a baby boy at 1:00 today January 2020 knows no bound as she got abundant gifts from the wife of the Governor of Osun State, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola.

The first lady visited the baby of the year at the maternity ward of State Hospital, Asubiaro in Osogbo, the state capital very early in the morning of January 1st.

She took time off to play with the baby of the year and showered the child with prayers and also presented gifts to the baby.

The First Lady also presented gifts to other newborn babies in the maternity wards as she rejoiced with the mothers and their family members.

She was accompanied by the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu, Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Health, Dr Olasiji Olamiju and
other senior officials of the ministry of Health and top government functionaries in the state.

She congratulated the parents of the first baby of the year in the state and urged them to take good care of him so that he would grow and achieve his full potentials in life

Appealing to all parents in the state to ensure good upbringing of their wards, Mrs Oyetola charged the parents on the need to give good education to their children just as she urged them to take good care of their children so that they can be useful to their families, the state, and the nation at large

She also charged the nursing mothers to adequately breastfeed their children for at least six months without mixing it with water or any other food so as to be healthy.

The first lady also used the visitation to sensitise parents on the dangerous implications of genital mutilation, she described it as an indirect way of killing the girls.

Mrs Oyetola also appealed to residents of the state to desist from defecating in the open places, saying such attitude is not good for the healthy living of the people of the state.

She said: “The parents of the babies should take adequate care of their children and wards. They should give them good education so that they can become a great pillar in the state, in the nation and in the world.

“I also want to advice the mothers to please breastfeed their babies for at least six months. The medical teams have been doing wonderfully well but I want them to advice the nursing mothers on the purpose of breastfeeding.
I want to enjoin the fathers to cooperate with mothers so that we can have healthy children

“We should stop the habit of defecating in the open places. I have been telling people we want Osun state to be Open Defecation free before the two years anniversary.

“We have only one local government that is Open defecation free, before November at least we want more local governments to be free .

She appreciated the people of the state for giving her husband the needed support and urged them to continue to support him and pray for him saying Governor Gboyega Oyetola will not deviate from keeping to the promises he made during electioneering campaign.

The Parents of First Baby, Mr and Mrs Adawale Abass expressed gratitude to the wife of the governor for her gesture as they received the gifts on behalf of the baby. The father of the baby, Mr Abass lauded the initiative of the wife of the governor and expressed appreciation to her for the gifts.
