Breaking: Appeal Court Affirms Bala Muhammed as Bauchi Governor
By Jide Afolabi, Jos
The Court of Appeal sitting in Jos has affirmed the election of the Bauchi state Governor, Bala Muhammed.
In a judgement delivered today, the Court dismissed the appeal filed by the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, and the immediate past Governor, Muhammed Abubakar.
The Court held that the appeal lacked merit and thereby dismissed.
While addressing journalists after the judgement, counsel to the governor, Chris Uche, SAN, said that the Appeal Court has just affirmed the judgement of the Bauchi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which upheld the governor’s election.
He added that the Tribunal had maintained that Governor Bala Muhammed was validly elected by the highest number of lawful votes.
He noted that “it’s the same case” brought before the Appeal Court justices.
