NBCYC Holds Annual Youth Night in Ogbomoso

The Nigerian Baptist Convention Youth Conference, NBCYC, a youth arm of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, NBC, has held its annual youth night in Ogbomoso.

The annual program was held at the Beulah Baptist Convention Centre on Saturday night.

The all-night programme witnessed a variety of programmes including film shows, words of encouragement, celebrations, sermons, presentations, varieties, fraternal greetings, and drama ministration which was presented by the Ogbomoso Baptist Youth Conference drama group among others.

The theme of the programme was, “The Role of Youth: Building a Great Church Through Faithful Stewardship with the text taken from the book of 1Peter 4:10 and Luke 12:42.

During the theme interpretation, Rev Dr Lekan Ajao urged the youths to put whatever gift God has given them to use. He noted that gifts giving to individuals must profit the Church.

While talking on stewardship’s, he identified five areas that require given account of one’s stewardship, “stewardship of your gift, stewardship of your profession; stewardship in your finances; stewardship of your body; and stewardship to the denomination i.e Baptist.

In his speech, the NBCYC National President, Deacon Habakkuk Ishaku said that faithful stewardship and nation-building are key in every aspect of our Christian journey.

“We are responsible to all that God had entrusted into our hands. We need to be forthcoming in the area of nation-building in order to ensure a great Church and a Nation.” He admonished believers to fast and pray to intercede for God’s mercy and grace, also, to preach for national repentance just as Nehemiah, Mordecai, and Daniel were patriotic to her national burden.

In his own speech, the National Coordinator, Youths, Rev Joshua Ibukunoluwa analysed necessary ingredients for effective youth ministry to include; discipleship, effectiveness at home, productivity in the local Church, missions, fellowship rather than meeting, use of enriching materials, and relationship among.

The Director, Youth, and Student Department, Rev Dr S.A.K Olaleye urged Baptist youths to make the best use of the opportunity that the Convention has given to the youths.

“I challenge every youth of the NBC to work at discovering their gifts and use them to transform their generation,” he said.

The Youth Night is part of the ongoing 106th Nigerian Baptist Convention Annual Convention-in-Session holding in Ogbomoso in Oyo state.
