CONUA Expresses Optimism In FG’s Inclusion Of Members In IPPIS
Niyi Sumonu, the National Coordinator of Congress of University Academics (CONUA), said the union was holding Federal Government in trust in respect of enrolment of its members in Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information (IPPIS).
Sumonu, while speaking with newsmen on Wednesday in Osogbo said the group hoped that the enrolment of CONUA members in IPPIS would ensure prompt and constant payment of salaries.
CONUA is a splinter group of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
While ASUU directed its members not to partake in the ongoing IPPIS registration as directed by Federal Government ,CONUA directed its members to comply.
Sunmonu said the union also believed that all the problems highlighted by the union at a meeting with Finance Minister in respect of enrolment of CONUA members with IPPIS would be addressed.
” We resolved in our congress over the weekend that all our members should comply with IPPIS registration and they have started enrolling.
“We are giving government the benefit of doubt that the IPIS enrolment would ensure constant and prompt payment of our salaries” Sumonu said.
Besides, he said enrolment of Universitities in IPPIS would help to fight corruption in the University system.
“There is no doubt that the enrolment of Universities with IPPIS is a tool to fight corruption”, Sumonu said.
