Osun Assembly Chief Whip Calls For Support For Indigent, But Brilliant Students

It does not take millions in one’s account to lift another person, but it takes a good heart to do so. Those who impact on others do not have all, but they have a spirit to share.

These are the words of the Chief Whip of the State of Osun House of Assembly, Mr Tunde Olatunji when he spoke at the end of the session ceremony of Ataoja High School Osogbo, where the leading candidate in this year’s UMTE in Osun, Mr Ridwan Olalekan was presented to the public.

Mr Olatunji who built his speech around the 17 year old indigent Ridwan explained that his intervention to sponsor the tertiary education of the boy, was not out of opulence, but a commitment to save the destiny of prospective problem solvers who are scattered in public schools across the State.

The legislator noted that making such intervention public was not a show of, but to encourage other kind hearted citizens who might ordinarily not be thinking in that direction to follow suit.

He said the society would be helping itself if conserted efforts was taking to identifying brilliant but indigent children to give them hope and what they need to grow.

Mr Olatunji also admonished families to have limited numbers of children and show commitment to their education and general wellbeing.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Whip was a guest speaker at the end of the year’s celebration in Saint Kizito Secondary School Ikirun where he charged young people that they owe it a duty to discover their purpose in life and pursue same.

Mr Olatunji explained that the way they spend their times, hour of sleeping, playing, their choice of friends and other issues they prioritize were key factors in determining how far they would go in life.

The legislator warned them against association that would lured them into drug and premarital sexual relationship, which could automatically pervert the cause of their destiny.

He also reminded the teachers that, “you have illocus parentis responsibility in the students under your watch. Teaching is a divine calling and God has a way of rewarding selfless and conscientious teachers”

At the two schools visited, Mr Olatunji presented cakes to celebrate the graduating students.
