Alaafin Applauds Adelabu as his ‘Thank You’ Train berthed in Oyo Town
By Abiodun Ogunrinde, Ibadan
The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi has commended the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the March 9 Governorship Election in Oyo state, Oloye Adebayo Adelabu for his courage and maturity displayed before, during and after the polls.
He said very few Nigerians could display the kind of love and passion to serve their state by dumping such a lucrative position of the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria for politics which is quite muddy and uncertain. He then prayed for Adelabu’s success in subsequent polls.
Oba Adeyemi stated this when the “Thank you” visit team of Adebayo Adelabu visited the Alaafin at his palace in Oyo.
The First Class Monarch said people like Adebayo Adelabu has what it takes to turn around Oyo state for the better given his diverse experience in both the public and private sectors of the economy as well his passion and love for the economic emancipation of the state through his huge investments in the state that has provided jobs for hundreds of indigenes and residents of the state.
He urged Adelabu not to relent in his aspiration to serve the state and fatherland.
In his words “the people of Oyo zone voted for you massively due to your Grand father’s political antecedent Alhaji Adegoke Adelabu coupled with your own vision for Oyo Zone and the state in general”.
Oba Adeyemi later gave his royal blessings for Bayo Adelabu and wishing him the best in his political aspirations.
Oloye Adelabu in his short remarks lauded Oba Adeyemi for his fatherly advice and support at all times.
“I appreciate the tremendous support given to me by Oyo Zone during the Governorship election hence the need for the Thank you visit.
“Oyo zone delivered their constituencies to APC and equally voted for me but we believed that God’s time is the best and delay is not denial” Adelabu stated.
The APC candidate pledged to continue to hold periodic meetings with the chieftains of the party for the progress of the party.
