Osun Assembly Speaker, Owoeye Urges Christians To Emulate Love Of Christ

The Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Rt Honorable Timothy Owoeye has urged Christians to emulate genuine love displayed by Jesus Christ who gave his life for the salvation of mankind.

Owoeye gave the admonition on Monday during a Christmas carol and Night of the Praise programme organized by the Osun state Assembly.

The speaker who described the 2019 Christmas carol as first of its kind in the history of the Parliament used the occasion to preach to people of the state especially Christians to emulate the selfless sacrifices made by Jesus Christ, by offering himself to be sacrificed for the redemption of human race.

He noted that Jesus Christ during his life time preached love, tolerance and service to humanity, hence the need for the Christians to replicate same for the progress of society.

On the significance of the event, Owoeye said that it was organized to express their gratitude to God for His glory over the members of the Parliament and continued peaceful coexistence among the lawmakers.

He further emphasised the assembly commitment towards ensuring that they make laws that would help protecting the interest of the people and promoting development of the state.

He sought the support of the Christians in the state, urging them to continue to pray for the state government under the leadership of Governor Gboyega Oyetola so as to be able to achieve what it has in plan to give to the citizens as dividends of democracy.

In his sermon, Apostle E.O Robert implored Christians to learn from Jesus Christ who he said had lived a faithful live worthy of emulation.

According to the apostle, Jesus Christ showed love,respect to humanity through his disciples without being selective in who to relate with.

Governor of Osun, Gboyega Oyetola who spoke through the State Secretary to the Government , Prince Oluwole Oyebamiji assured the citizens of a better years ahead.

Oyetola said: “We have spent this year to plant and we have all gathered here today to water it with praise.

According to the Governor, “I am positive that the Lord who responds to praise and who is the Maker of the people will make 2020 and the subsequent years abundant harvests and blessings for the State of Osun.

He, however, applauded the lawmakers for organizing the programme which he said will serve as avenue to preach love, patriotism to citizens of the state.
