Baptist Youths Organises Festival of Hymns, Marks 40th Anniversary

Baptist youths under the aegis of the Plateau Baptist Conference Youth Conference, PBCYC, organised Music Fiesta tagged “Festival of Hymns 2019” with the theme, “Wonderful Words of Life” Baptist Hymnal 181.

The all-night event held between Friday 20th-Saturday 21st September 2019 at the United Baptist Church, Tafawa Balewa, Jos, Plateau state capital saw all the fourteen (14) youth Associations in the Conference coming together to praise God through Baptist Hymns.

The guest speaker at the program was Pastor Jude Joshua from the Baptist College of Theology, Jos, Plateau State.

The Baptist Hymnal 181 “Wonderful Words of Life” was sung in different tones by various associations including Unity, Philadelphia, Shallom, Bethel, Union, Victory, and Alheri among others.

Special numbers were presented by Freeman Fantastic, Tehilla Group, Femi Adeniyi, Amos and James others.

One of the major highlights of the program was the appreciation service conducted for the immediate past leaders of the body.

Earlier, a special dinner was organised for them which climaxed with a brief but highly impactful meeting between the former leaders and the current leaders. The meeting ended with a special prayer offered by one of the former Presidents and former General Secretary of the Nigerian Baptist Convention Youth Conference, PBCYC, Pastor Yohanna D. Magaji.

Two prayer sessions were observed and anchored by the Protocol Officer to the Plateau Baptist Conference, PBC, Rev Dr K.K Saleh, Rev Bolaji Oyateru and Bro. Mahanan Henry, the current PBCYC Prayer Coordinator.

Among those appreciated at the event were former Presidents, Pastor Yohanna D. Magaji, Comrade James Nyam, and Pharm Marcus Audu Kanda; former General Secretary and Recording Secretary, Deacon Peter Rafan, Bro Emmanuel Dang, NBCYC Auditor, Bro Nehemiah Maram, and former Vice Presidents Sister Abu Sam Jackson and Bro Sunday Oyalana.

Others were Bro Soji Akorede, Deacon Luka Agwom, Bro Tunde Olaleru, Bro Yemi John, and Bro Timothy Pam.

Others appreciated were Bro Salvation Kumbe, Pastor Jonathan James, Bro Obed Jeremiah, Deacon Bitrus Haggai, Bro Bamaiyi Daniel, Bro Abbey Olaniyi, and Sis Christianah Afolabi.

In his speech, the President of Plateau Baptist Conference Youth Conference, PBCYC, thanked God for the opportunity given to the Conference to observe this years Music Fiestal. He noted that it has been a great forty years journey for the Conference and thanked the former leaders of the body.

The Vice President I who chaired the Appreciation Committee, Sis Yohanna Hajara thanked those appreciated for making it to the the programme and the entire participants for their active involvement in making the programme a success story.

The fortieth anniversary cake was cut during the programme to mark the 40 years of God’s faithfulness in the life of the Conference.
