In Ondo: APC Loses Senatorial Election To AA In Akeredolu’s Unit

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has lost out to the opposition Action Alliance (AA) in the senatorial election at the polling unit of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State.

At Ijebu 2 ward 5, unit 06, Owo, headquarters of Owo Local Government
Area of the state where Akeredolu voted, the APC polled 33, while the AA polled 125 and PDP had 13 votes.

The Governor was alleged to be supporting the AA senatorial candidate,
Dr Tunji Abayomi against the candidate of his party, Prof. Ajayi Borrofice.

It would be recalled that a group of APC members had recently protested against alleged anti party activities by Governor Akeredolu who they accused of sponsoring the AA candidate.

However, governor Akeredolu won the presidential election with 147 votes, while the PDP had 30 votes.

For the House of Representatives election, the APC had 130, while the
PDP had 23 and AA polled 14.

Also at the polling unit of the Secretary to Ondo State Government, Mr Ifedayo Abegunde, the  PDP had 64 votes, while APC polled 39 votes in the presidential election.

In the senatorial election, the PDP polled 59, while APC polled 36 in the same unit.

However, the senator representing Ondo Central senatorial district who is also the APC senatorial candidate for the area, Tayo Alasoadura delivered his Iju unit in Akure North Local Government Area for the APC as the party polled 111, while PDP polled 90 votes in the
presidential election.

In the senatorial election, the APC polled 132, while PDP had 50 votes.

The Presidential and National Assembly elections were conducted peacefully in all parts of the state as there was no case of ballot snatching or violence in any of the polling centres across the state
