Adeleke: AGF Calls For Calm , Says Oyetola Still The Governor
A group within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Grassroot Foundation, on Friday urged the people of Osun to remain calm and peaceful following the judgement of election petition tribunal.
The election petition tribunal while handling down its verdict declared Senator Ademola Adeleke as the winner of September 22, 2018 governorship election.
The Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, Ademola Adeleke had challenged the victory of APC flag bearer, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, urging the tribunal to declare him winner of the gubernatorial poll.
But AGF, in a statement signed by its Coordinator, Comrade Tijani Sikiru and secretary, Comrade Adeniji Yahaya, which was made available to journalists in Osogbo said Gboyega Oyetola is still the governor of the state .
“We want to urge the people of Osun to remain calm and peaceful. We are appalling the judgement and victory is ours
“Section 140(2) of the Electoral Act does not permit the Tribunal to deduct votes and declare a winner
“There is a dissenting judgment, the Chairman of the tribunal disagreed on the issues on noncompliance and the nullification of the rerun.
“We urge our people to remain calm and be in steadfast prayers. God is not unjust. People of Osun came out massively and voted for APC during the poll, so no cause for alarm.
