By Ayobami Agboola, Osogbo
Ahead of Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections, a sociopolitical organization, Oranmiyan Worldwide has urged the electorate to go out there and exercise their civic responsibilities, by voting for the candidates of their choice.
The group in a statement personally signed by its Director General, Mr Olajide Sadiq Maruf and made available to newsmen in Osogbo, on Friday urged the eligible voters to come out massively and cast their votes for candidates of their choice
Sadiq enjoined all Nigerians, the political parties and their candidates, the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and security operatives to shun all kinds of electoral malpractice, and fake news in order to achieve free, fair, credible and peaceful elections.
While highlighting the current myriads of issues on the general elections, the Oranmiyan Director General identified the surge of, fake news, vote trading and election rigging as what could mar the nation’s efforts towards free, fair, credible and peaceful elections.
He lamented fears of election violence that can further endanger the peace and security of the nation and individuals, saying electorate should not be panic as the government has put measure in place to ensure the safety of citizens before, during and after the polls.
Sadiq further said eligible voters were duty bound to participate in electing a government that would lead Nigeria to the Next Level.
He however, charged potential electorate on the need to stay back and defend their votes, there is nothing wrong with voters to stay back after casting their vote and get the result announced by the presiding officer of INEC.
