Plateau Police Command Parades 34 Suspects

The Plateau State Police Command of the Nigeria Police Force on Thursday, paraded 34 suspects allegedly involved in different crimes.

The Command also recovered different exhibits from the suspects including arms and ammunition as well as assorted firearms manufacturing tools and implements.

According to the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Isaac Akinmoyede, in a press conference held in his office, the suspects were arrested for various crimes including unlawful possession of firearms and illegal fabrication of firearms; culpable homicides, criminal conspiracy, and attempted rape; recovery of firearm and ammunition and kidnapping among others.

“Arrest of two suspects in a case of Unlawful Possession of Firearms and Illegal Fabrication of Fire Arms. On 15/ 11/2019 at about 1630hrs, the Commander of Operations Safe Havens, Sector 5 arrested and took to Bokkos Police Division one Joseph Agai ‘m’ age 30 years of Richa Village in Barkin Ladi in possession of one locally made pistol and a live cartridge. The suspect during interrogation confessed that he bought the pistol and cartridge from one Boni Maker’i ‘m’ of Tagwash Village, Richa in Bokkos LGA who is in the illegal business of manufacturing guns with his father. During investigation, detectives raided the house of one Thomas Agudi ‘m’ age 63 years and the following exhibits were recovered: one locally made rifle, one gas welding cylinder, one ~vise,~ one drilling machine, ~sharp,~ motorcycle wheel and a bellow, four hammers, locally made rifle triggers, four dane guns, three pipes, motorcycle steering pipes and a tool box containing pliers, filers, spanners etc. The suspect who allegedly sold the firearm to Joseph Agai, one Boni Makeri is still at large. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect. All the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigation is over.”

In a case of police formation invasion by suspected hoodlums, the CP said, “Arrest of twenty one (21) suspects in the case of Criminal Conspiracy, Mischief, Causing Hurt and Culpable Homicide. On 10/ 1 1/2019 at about 0145hrs the corpse of one Paul Mark ‘m’ age 25 years of Garkawa in Mikang LGA of Plateau State was found along the road between St. Joseph Catholic Church and College of Agriculture Garkawa. The deceased was alleged to be the boyfriend of one Happy Dashe Sati ‘1‘ age 19 years, a student of College of Agriculture Garkawa. One Shedrack Joseph ‘m’ age 25 years also a student of the College was alleged to be the boyfriend of the same Happy Dashe Sati. Shedrack who visited his girlfriend in the hostel saw her with a phone that he knew was not hers. On enquiry, he discovered that the phone was given to her by his rival Paul Mark. He was furious and immediately ordered her to return the phone to its owner. The two rivals met at a birthday party organized by Danbaba at Kwaitop Hotel on 10/11 / 2019. Thereafter, the corpse of Paul Mark was found. When the case was reported to Mikang Police Division and Shedrack and Happy were fingered as prime suspects. Shedrack, Happy and two of her friends were arrested and taken to the station for questioning. When Garkawa youths heard that the four persons were undergoing interrogation with the police, they invaded the police station, vandalized, beat and injured both the policemen on duty and the suspects which led to the death of Shedrack Joseph our prime suspect. The Police are on the trail of other suspects at large who participated in the invasion of the police station. I want to warn that if a matter is reported to the Police, members of the public should refrain from interfering into police investigation. The suspects will be charged to court very soon in order to serve as deterrent to others who may want to venture into a similar act of illegality.

“Arrest of one suspect in a case of being in Possession of Firearms. On 13/11/2019 at about 2000hrs, one Godson Vincent ‘m’ of Ex-Land in Barkin Ladi LGA of Plateau State was arrested by detectives of the Command in possession of one locally made revolver rifle containing four (4) rounds of live cartridges. The case is under investigation and the suspect will be charged to court soon.

“Recovery of Firearm and Ammunition. On 2/11/2019 at about 2000hrs. Barkin Ladi Police personnel while on routine raid at the local government headquarters encountered two suspected armed robbers who were bearing AK 47 miles. They opened fire on sighting the policemen and in the gun duel that ensued. one of the armed men was shot dead while the other escaped. The AK 47 rifle of the deceased suspect with breach number 4186284 and two magazines containing 22 rounds of live ammunition were recovered.

“Arrest of two suspects in a case of Culpable Homicide. On 16/11/2019 through credible intelligence, the detectives Laranto Police Division arrested uspectl one Yusuf Salisu ‘m’ 20 years of behind St. Augustine Seminary Jos and Musa Yakubu ‘m’ 45 years of Dadin Kowa Second Gate, Jos in case of culpable homicide. When arrested, Yusuf Salisu who snapped with an AK-47 rifle and saved the picture in his handset claimed that, sometime this year, before the 2019 General Elections along Ilesha Lagos Road, Musa Yakubu who was driving a Boxer Bus knocked down a policeman and took away his rifle. He stated further that Musa is still with the rifle. Osun State Police Command when contacted eonfmned the attack and death of the policemen. The suspect may soon be released to Osun Command for further investigation.

“Arrest of two suspects in I case of Kidnapping. On 11/11/2019 at about 1920hrs, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Plateau State Command arrested two suspects in a case of Kidnapping. The gang kidnapped one Aisha Haruna ‘1’ age 15 years. Responding to the timely intelligence, the gang was intercepted along Barkin Ladi/ Mangu road when they were dragging their victim to a nearby bush. The suspects are; one Halidu Abdullahi age 26 years and Dauda Abdullahi 29 years both male of no fix address. Exhibits recovered [mm the suspects are two unregistered motorcycles. The suspects will be changed to court soon.

“Arrest of two Suspects in a case of Culpable Homicide. On 16/11/2019 at about 1830hrs, the Officer in charge of Daffo Police Out Station received a distress call from one Idris Adam ‘m’ of Fubok village in Bokkos LGA of Plateau Sate that his son Abdulrahaman IdI-is left home on 15/11/2019 to Mangar village in Boklcos district for a wedding ceremony in company of one Mubarak Useini ‘m’ age 17 years of Bwa village and one Ibrahim Jibrin ‘m’ age 22 years of Ngamuta village all of Dario district and since then his son had not returned. Immediame after the report, police operatives swung into action by embarldng on a search. Regrettably, the corpse of Abdulrahaman Idris was found in a maize farm with bullet wounds. The two suspects earlier mentioned were then arrested. Investigation is on to unearth the motives behind the killing. The suspects will be charged to court soon”

The Police Chief appreciated the Commander Operation, Safe Haven, Maj. Gen. ACC Agundu and his officers and men for the synergy and cooperation. He added that it was a suspect they transferred to the police that led to the discovery of the local arms manufacturing factory and arrest of the suspect.

Akinmoyede said that the state security chiefs met on 19/11/2019 and discussed various issues concerning the security of the state saying that everything humanly possible will be done to ensure law-abiding citizens are well protected.

He stressed that, “Very soon a special operation will be carried out to flush out criminals from the state so that citizens can enjoy the Yuletide.”

He called on residents of Plateau State to trust the police with timely information so as to continue to nip crimes in the bud while commending “the efforts, zeal, and tirelessness of the member of the fourth estate of the realm who make sure that our efforts receive the publicity it deserves.”
