NGO Commends Buhari For Signing Executive Order 009
The Executive Director of the Initiative for Citizens’ Rights, Accountability and Development (ICRAD), Barr Hassan Luqman has commended President Muhammedu Buhari for signing Executive Order 009 which gives teeth to the federal government Action Plan towards making Nigeria Open Defecation Free by 2025.
In his words ‘Mr President has by this singular act demonstrated his commitment to the implementation of the home grown Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Action Plan designed in line with Agenda 2030 especially towards meeting Goal 6 which emphasizes Clean Water and Sanitation.’
President Muhammadu Buhari has signed Executive Order 009 on the Open Defecation- Free Nigeria by 2025. The Order established a national secretariat to lead the campaign on open defecation in Nigeria.
‘The establishment of the Clean Nigeria Campaign Secretariat as a national secretariat to coordinate the implementation of national policy on Sanitation is a welcome development’ added Mr Hassan.
‘This will go a long way in meeting the 2025 timeline set by the country for eradicating open defecation. Beyond usual rhetorics, President Muhammadu Buhari has displayed uncommon commitment to the global agenda for sustainable development’ he submitted
