Aregbesola Becomes Amirul Wazirul Muminina

The Osun Muslim community under the leadership of the Grand Imam, Sheik Musa Animasahun on Friday turbaned the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as Amirul Wazirul Muminina of the state.

The Islamic title according to the leagues of Imams and Alfa was in recognition of Aregbesola’s contributions to the growth and development of Islam in the state and Nigeria at large.

CityMirrorNews reports that no fewer than 10, 000 Islamic scholars were present at the turbaning ceremony which took place at the Osogbo central mosque.

Apart from the Islamic scholars, traditional rulers , political office holders , market men and women , and various Islamic organizations were also present at the epoch making event.

Speaking, the Interior Minister appreciated the Muslim faithful for counting him worthy, promising to continue to contribute to the growth of Islam.

The immediate past Governor of Osun state who was so excited by the mammoth crowd who came to celebrate him also gave thanks to Almighty Allah for the completion of the Osogbo central mosque.

Aregbesola also used the opportunity to clear the air over the absence of his successor at his turbarning ceremony.

Aregbesola denied the insinuation that Governor Oyetola intentionally left the state to absent himself from the programme.

Aregbesola said, “My Governor is with me. We spoke yesterday and this morning. He’s not here because prior to the verdict of the Supreme Court delivered in July, Oyetola had pledged to God that he would be proceeding to Makkah for lesser hajji before the year 2019 runs out if he won the case.

“After winning the court case, the governor has been too busy with administrative work that he forgot to fulfil his promise. As the year almost run out, he has to proceed on the lesser hajji to appreciate Almighty Allah for what he did for him.

“So I want to tell everyone that his absence here is known and I’m commissioning this mosque today on his behalf.”

In his lecture, Sheik (Dr) Abdulazeez Oladosu advised politicians to always be patriotic in the dealing and always remember their covenant with Allah and people.

Meanwhile, the popular sociocultural group, Oranmiyan Worldwide, has congratulated the Minister on his turbaning ceremony as Waziri Limumin of Osun state.

The Director General of Oranmiyan , Hon Sadiq Olajide in a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Osogbo on Friday described the Aregbesola’s installation as Waziri Mumini of Osun as well deserved.

Olajode who hinted that the Aregbesola’s sacrifices to the development of the religion had made him worthy to be conferred with such a magnitude of Islamic title.

Describing the immediate past Governor of Osun as an architect of new Osun, said his contribution to the growth and development of Islam in the state and Nigeria as a whole informed the decision of Osun Muslim community to honour him with the title.

“We felicitates with our Oga and Mentor, the architect of New Osun, the man whose is contributions to the growth and development of Islam in the state of Osun and Nigeria as a whole informed the Osun Muslim community to honour him with that great Islamic title.
