Stolen Baby Recovered in Jos, Handed Over to Parent

A three-day-old boy stolen from the Plateau State Specialist Hospital in Jos about two weeks ago has been recovered and handed over to the biological parent.
The baby was handed over to the parents on Monday by the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital.
The Chief Medical Director, Dr Philemon Golwa applauded the efforts of the Nigerian Police Force in recovering the boy from the thief who was subsequently arrested.
The parent of the baby, Mr and Mrs Chukeuebuka while speaking with journalists on Friday at the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Plateau State Council press centre located at Hill Station junction in Jos had intimated Journalists that the baby had been recovered from the thief who claimed to be the biological mother.
According to them, the woman had come to the hospital claiming to be a staff and took the baby away.
She later engaged in a self-abduction and claimed to have delivered the baby during her abduction.
After a painstaking investigation and questioning, it was unravelled that the proxy mother of the baby stole the baby while the Police took the baby to the hospital for care pending investigation.
After the investigations were concluded and the original parent established, the boy was handed over to the parent by the CMD of the hospital.
The parent named him “Onyiyechi” which means “God’s gift”.
