Election Postponement: CBN Roads Blocked, Security Beefed Up
By Jide Afolabi, Jos
All roads leading to the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Plateau state branch has been blocked by security agents.
This may not be unconnected with the postponement of the 2019 general elections.
At a consultative forum earlier on Saturday as reported by CityMirrorNews, the state Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, Resident Electoral Commissioner, Husaini Aliru Pai has informed the stakeholders that all election materials especially, sensitive materials would be returned to the Central Bank of Nigeria for safety.
Security vehicles including Armoured Personnel Carriers, APCs, were also seen on all roads leading to the CBN and heavy security presence around the area.
It is not however clear whether the roads would be blocked until after the election.
The roadblocks has however created traffic grid locks within the Jos metropolis especially around Beach road, Ahmadu Bello Way, British-America, State House of Assembly road, and other adjourning roads.
